This is a come-and-go informational session about the Freedom From Smoking® program. Participants will need 30 minutes or less to receive information and sign up for the program.
The American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking® program is a seven-week course that will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. every Wednesday from Jan. 25 to March 15. There also will be one Friday meeting on Feb. 17. This extra meeting comes during quit week.
Because most people know that smoking is dangerous to their health, the Freedom From Smoking® program focuses almost exclusively on how to quit, not why to quit. Because no single quit smoking technique is effective for all smokers, the program includes a comprehensive variety of evidence-based cessation techniques. The curriculum also includes the latest research about nicotine replacement therapy (gum, inhalers, patches, lozenges and nasal spray) and other smoking cessation medications.
The program cost is $25 and covers the textbook participants receive. Registration is required and can be completed by clicking http://bit.ly/2iKRCFx or by calling 573-348-8222.
