CAMP Rehoboth and Silver Lotus Yoga announce a partnership to bring FREE Tai Chi classes to our LGBT Elders (50+) and allies. The classes will run through the winter.
Tai Chi is scientifically shown to reduce falls, improve over-all health and wellness. No experience is required.
Tai Chi and Qigong techniques and practices are based on Traditional Chinese medicine. They consist of slow, gentle, continuous movement which are coordinated with the breath resulting in improved, circulatory, neurological, musculo-skeletal, cardio vascular, digestive and eliminative systems of the body. Techniques of Tai Chi and Qigong can be done by anyone. As with all excercise prgorams, folks should check with their physicians to make sure excercise is ok; but these are very safe practices for even folks who struggle with health issues. In fact, specifically for people who struggle with health issues.
In our classes, we are committed to social, emotional and physical health. The classes are fun, stimulating and relaxing. Depending on the level of students' abilities we offer several healing qigong forms as well as Yang Style 24 forms, Tai Chi for Arthritis, and Tai Chi for Diabetes.
Susan Hamadock LCSW will be leading the 8 week class. Susan is the Founder and Program Director of Silver Lotus Training Institute. The Institute not only offers community based classes in Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong; but trains Yoga and Tai Chi/Qigong teachers as well. Her school is recognized by the Yoga Alliance at the 200 and 500 hour levels.
The class will meet Wednesdays starting on November 29th at 1:00pm at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center and will run for 8 weeks.
